"Guys, you are not going to believe what just happened to me [yesterday]..... 0_o Now, some of you may have noticed my "editing rampage" over the last couple of hours. This is because I really want the Edit Grinder badge, which is achieved by making 100 edits in a single day. Long story short, that is exactly what I just did. ^_^"
G flippin' G.
P.S: Speaking of badges, why doesn't YOUR wiki have them? :/
Ah, this was a decision made way back. The problem with the achievement system is that it provides false incentives to edit, for badges and points rather than relevant contribution. We don't want people adding categories or making redundant edits just to ride up a leaderboard, so RaonicHero and I never enabled the feature when we became staff here.
I've already played my strings test anyways and it went bad, got teacher mad.
All i have now is Science. Once I finish science, then I can finally focus on quality stuff. All i do now is play forum games and make music tracks in my free time as well as use discord.
Speaking of which, we all know Shenron, who goes by the account of Unnamedblockster661. Users have been infuriated by the fact he copies and pastes some stuff at times. Furthermore, in forum games, users tend to share their personal interests on select games. Shenron is the type of person who would steal that idea and then have a new fixation on the game and will keep mentioning it. He also says "no u" a lot, which has been considered annoying to numerous. At this point I'm gonna ask if you have discord so we can talk more easier.
AxBoi has sorted out the matter of image sprites and all remaining menu images. Solid progress has been made.
Level and coin location images remain, left unfinshed by Tchatow unfortunately at about one third done in 4K. Not quite sure how to proceed from here.
Coo Haa I think is studying right now and I assume he'll resume with the icons soon.
MusikBike (Awesoman3000) for some reason still hasn't managed to produce a video of Nock Em because he can't get the key for the second coin. I'm wondering whether to look at having 38 new gameplay videos created in higher quality. What do you think?
If the general consensus is that Shenron is disruptive and not positively contributing in any way, feel free to address matters as you feel is appropriate.
Ah, I do have Discord at the moment. 'Hackey5' it is.
Stuff's going good. I anticipate I'll have some more free time soon. And I think (although this has been said many times before) that we might just be able to wrap just about everything up on the wiki before the end of the year (at least, before any December update) with a concerted effort. Will it really happen? Who knows... :P
I play the violin, good sir. I am not very good at it tho.
I have indeed noticed much more progress with the pages and I have to say i am impressrd with the support we are getting. This wiki is coming around.
About Shenron, if you took a look at his message wall may see 4-6 valid warnings made by not just staff, but other users as well. A lot of people complain about him, and i had to block the user on two occasions due to misdemeanors from disrespecting moderators to creating short flame wars with others on a contunuous basis. Tl;dr people find him a nuisance, and seek a better resort for him to go to so he could stay away..
It is nice to know you have discord, but if that's the case, i would need the 4 digit tag. I'm not willing to go and tap the 9999 possible tags you may have :P If you wanted mine's, it's Radar553#1285. Yep, i changed my username from Sonar to Radar.
Good to know you may have free time. Again. I am waiting for exams to come to an end so u can contribute properly. However, other users have done a great job contributing, and sometimes it is hard to see what needs optimization at times.
The triggers page, though, needs work. While we have a descriptive infobox/tabber for it, there mayy be spots where they need clarification.
Additionally, I have asked about the use of a new psragraph in User Accounts called Moderators. While we mentioned it, we could elaborate on their roles in the wiki, and possibly nake a box of the list of mods in the game.
If you are okay with me adding you on discord, let me know your 4 digit tag. Otherwise it'll be difficult. Or, if you want to add me yourself, the tag is above. Just make sure to let me know who you are :3 thanks!
When you can play Presto from Summer of the Four Seasons, let me know. :P I play piano myself.
I just need to make some adjustments to some of the transporter images, then we'll well on our way. How do you think we should go forward with level and coin location images as well as videos?
I'll allow you to follow up Shenron's case however you want. Your arguments are strong enough to justify heavier penalties, particularly his use of alternate accounts, which in this instance you could follow up with Fandom staff if you feel it appropriate. Otherwise, you could take the Darkrai approach and block on sight since he's had countless warnings in the past. Just be sure to communicate your intentions.
I recently added area triggers (the letter blocks are like passive triggers) to the article and reorganised the colour trigger section. Indeed, there's some work to do, although I have finalised Level Components (we're not getting anymore sprites because it's becoming impractical on our end to extract every last asset introduced over the last few major updates), Portals has been done for ages, and it shouldn't take too long to go over Transporters once I get around to it. Soon, we'll have the Level Elements category complete! Secrets are also riding close too.
User Accounts is definitely a WIP since it's got unorganised sections dropped in which were created separately by a helpful contributor. You may want to look over that, and yeah, certainly, moderators would be good to mention. I know little about what they can do myself.
Hello, it's me again from the Geometry Dash Fan Wiki! How is this sister wiki holding up so far? :3
So, remember the tips you gave me for improving our wiki? The other staff and I, along with a couple of new crucial staff members such as MrNimportnawak and Mjaydenkim, tried to follow your suggestions as best as we could. Let me update you on the situation so far:
Yeah, apparently there are template red-links that I have no idea how to remove for some reason. :V
-MrNimportnawak, Parkour2906, and others have started deleting a lot of stub pages, beinging the wiki to around 820 pages. However, we also need pages on the Map Pack levels and Gauntlet levels. So, should we wait until most of the stub pages are deleted, then work on them? :/
-None of the staff (including me) know how to properly make gameplay sections, which is a crucial element many of our pages lack. Perhaps you could lend a couple of your best editors to help us out?
Yeah, I think that's pretty much it. Any ideas? Thanks!
P.S: I might as well update you on my current in-game stats too. I recently hit 4,000 stars! ^_^
Just keep working down the list removing expired links. As mentioned previously, you can use Linksweeper to help (it no longer works on threads though).
Anyone who knows what they're doing, has a bit of time and willing to put in the effort could have all the stubs cleared over a few days at most. Elect someone onto it and just have them process Special:Shortpages until everything's trimmed out. Compile more broad articles if need be (eg. Ship, Ball, UFO articles merged onto a Forms or Portals article).
As someone who is very focused on gauntlet levels, it would be productive to create articles for them (you're talking up to 75). The main thing is providing a quality video walkthrough and specifically providing user coin guides, as that is what I often find myself seeking help with. (Levels where you cannot find user coins without the use of a guide are badly designed. Don't make levels like that. :P )
Gameplay sections can be structured in several ways. How I've done it here is very descriptive-formulaic and mostly minimal, depending on how easy the level is. It'd make more sense as a less formal wiki to be less structured and to just make them easily readable. You're talking an endless number of levels so you'd be hard pressed aiming for consistency, so really you have quite a bit of freedom to write how you want.
My primary tip is that you focus on what readers are focused on. You may have 800+ articles,
but only 38 of them have more than 100 viewers per week, and just 10 of them with more than 200 viewers. Objectively speaking, there is little point investing efforts into that which receives a minimal audience. Focus intently on those 10 articles and you achieve more than scouring the whole wiki for expired links or fixing the gameplay sections of 50 levels which hardly anyone reads.
Looks fine to me. Compared to here where introductions of components are mostly talked about, you'd want to be highlighting the difficult sections. If you choose be relatively subjective, you can discuss techniques to clearing those sections as well.
By the way, I like your user page mastheads on the unofficial wiki. A refined design.
I was hoping that this year, in order to make this a little bigger and to make this more of a highlightable post maybe we could feature the winners on the wiki's home page? My other wiki did that, and I'm not as sure as to how things ran here.
Glad to see everything is still running great here! :D
Actually, The Enigma will take a while. I plan to end it within Part 10.0. So far, we are in Part 1.1, so that's gonna take a long time to accomplish. I'd suggest you start with the GD Level Survivors again :) And then once that's done, then we could make some more activity for The Enigma.
I've locked the page as a restricted use for Staff only. There has been quite some chaos in editing lately, where people fight over the information being placed in the page, whether or not it is factual and true. And this includes speculations, in which I believe I am at fault for bringing. My apologies.
The protection will last for 1 week in an attempt to subdue the chaos. If you do not approve of this, feel free to revert it. This decision was not just mine, but many other users as well, especially the two moderators that serve this wiki.
No problem. I've also noticed that Cube129.png isn't perfectly straight, but leans a bit towards the left. Due to that, the lines on the top right corner aren't as thick as those in the remaining corners. Could you please do something about it? Would highly appreciate it.
